My name is Gary Carver.  I am a Carver who is a carver (or vice versa).  I create

    --stylized or “interpretive” carvings of birds in wood, especially recycled wood,

    --wall hangings featuring nuthatches or woodpeckers, and

    --"dry vases" turned from weathered fencing. 

My bird shapes are designed to bring out the beauty of the wood—and to entice you to touch the birds and experience the form and flow of the shape, as well as the warmth and other qualities of the wood.  I carve each piece individually by hand, using rotary and reciprocating power carving tools, mainly flexible shaft carving machines.  Every item is unique and "one-of-a-kind."
